Internet Marketing Companies: 4 Subreddit Tabs, And What They Mean

By Arthur Williams

Reddit is, without question, one of the most widely used platforms in the social media world. With various subreddits covering an array of interests, it should come as no surprise that this platform has such a massive audience. With that said, you may not be getting the most out of these subreddits as you can, which brings us to the tabs that Internet marketing companies can tell you about. Here are 4 commonly used subreddit tabs and, more importantly, what they mean.

Best - This is the default tab that's active when you click on a subreddit. Essentially, this sorts comments by the number of upvotes - Reddit's equivalent of Facebook's likes - and the overall value that they provide to the topic at hand. If you'd like to know which comments have the most worth, this is the tab you should focus on. Of course, this is just one of the numerous tabs that the likes of fishbat.com can tell you about.

New - This is the tab to choose if you'd like to see the most recent posts first. Keep in mind that this tab doesn't organize them by value, which means that you may come across posts that offer little to no value. Furthermore, you may come across content you don't want to see. The upside to this, however, is that you can communicate with people more effectively, as you can engage those that have posted only minutes or even seconds ago.

Top - This inclusion may seem strange, given the "best" tab discussed earlier, but the "top" option is still very different. The reason for this is that the "top" posts on Reddit account for upvotes alone, no matter how many downvotes they generate. On the flipside, the "best" posts account for both upvotes and downvotes. For those that are only looking for posts with upvotes in mind, the former tab is the one you should use.

Controversial - No matter how unpopular a topic may be, it's still worth discussing, which is where the "controversial" tab comes into play. By switching over to said tab, content will be organized by what's receiving the most interaction, positive and negative. In fact, you may come across quite a few interesting arguments by switching to this tab. If nothing else, this will provide you with insight into how to interact on Reddit.
