Let Customers Find You With These Internet Marketing Tips

By Angle Stephen

Are you feeling frustrated by the overwhelming amount of information on the 'net about internet marketing? Sometimes, it becomes tough to sort through all the garbage and pull out the meaningful tips and advice that really work. Look for advice only from people who can show a track record of demonstrated success.

Facebook is your friend. If you have a website or online presence for your business you also need to promote that site on Facebook. You can create a page that other people can "like", and then link them to your official site through there. It will bring you a good deal of traffic that you may not have otherwise gotten.

When designing your website to market a business or product, keep your customer base in mind. You want to design your website so well that people are drawn to follow the actions you direct, without even realizing that they are being pushed in that direction. This will translate into more sales conversions.

Keep people focused on the marketing you want them to see by reducing unnecessary distractions. Many visitors will enter a website, click around on a few pages, and then leave aimlessly. Stop them from wandering by providing obvious paths you want them to follow. Connect every link to another page of content so that they are never distracted.

If you have a large assortment of products to choose from on your site, make sure that you include a sort option for your customers to utilize. This will allow them to sort by the highest to lowest price, and can serve to pinpoint the exact product that they are looking for.

On your website, make sure that you are as conservative as possible. Never point out anything to do with religion, politics, etc., as some will be offended by statements that you may view as innocuous. The more conservative you are, the better chance that you will appeal to the masses.

Even though they are print media, business cards are an important part of your Internet marketing strategy. Every time you hand a potential customer your business card, you have the opportunity to direct them to your website. Be sure the URL for your site is printed on your business cards.

No amount of internet marketing is going to coax people into buying your product if they don't trust your business or your website. Provide potential buyers with the assurance they need by adding a privacy policy, a FAQ page, a Help page, an About Us page and any other informational section that defines your business as trustworthy and legitimate.

A great way to make sure that you're always getting something done is to put yourself on a schedule. Part of the work-from-home allure is being your own boss and setting your own hours, but this is just fluff marketers are selling you so you actually buy their products. Treat marketing as a real job you must finish within a certain time-frame.

It may really sound trite, but the old story of the tortoise and the hare is far more applicable to Internet marketing than you may realize. An all-out sprint with little diversions along the way will never best the slow-and-steady approach. Thinking you can sprint to the finish line will leave you winded and behind the curve.

Forget about selling sometimes. Interact with your customers based on what they want and what they need. If you focus on your desire to sell, you will alienate visitors to your site as well as customers. Focus on building a relationship with the people who buy your products and they will reward you with purchases.
