Characteristics Facilitating Generosity In The Current World

By Sharon Fisher

Being generous is the willingness to help other people willingly without expecting something or anything in return. It is a very rare and only a few people have it. When most people hear about generosity, they expect that it involves a rich person. This, however, is not always the case. A generous person is able to share even the little they have since the act of giving is from within the heart of a person thus should not be gauged depending on how much one has. Below are some of the traits facilitating generosity.

There is no way a person can be generous if they do not care about their fellow men. People who do not care usually do not mind stepping on the oppressed in order to get themselves richer. However, a person who genuinely cares for other human beings will do their utmost best to improve the situation of the people in question even if it is by a little bit.

By definition, generosity is selfless giving. All that you do for people or give to them, you do not expect anything back. People may pretend to be generous, but in the real sense, they are only expecting that they will be able to get something out of helping out. A generous person gives to people with no intent of gaining from the situation.

Generous people are usually optimistic. They see the positive side of things. A pessimistic person always sees the negative side of things, and it is little wonder they do nothing to try and change the situation. The generous person has the vision of improving the lives of many. This means that they see a better tomorrow and are willing to initiate it.

They are humble. Many people give, not out of the goodness of their hearts but because they want to be seen. They will ensure everyone knows the amount they have contributed. A humble person mostly donates anonymously. They do not need to be praised or recognized just they because they gave a large sum of money.

Patience is one of the common traits in generous people. You may wonder how this is, but it actually makes sense. The reason for the generosity is to make the lives of other people change for the better. To try and eradicate a certain trait in society. This, however, is not that simple to achieve. Change effects over time and therefore patience is required in order to see results.

The purpose is key for generosity to be real. A generous person knows that the world does not revolve around them. They set out to achieve something that is not about them. They aim to improve not only their lives but also that of others. This means that they have a purpose in life. Something to live for and work towards.

Being energetic goes a long way in the life of a generous person. They do not have only to be energetic in working hard to get the funds but also participating actively in getting the less fortunate. For example, if the problem is lack of food, they will not only donate the money but also participate in the cooking.
