How To Hire An Advertising Or Creative Agency

By Carl Ellis

When looking to advertise a product or service, traditional routes such as magazines, newspapers and online are often good choices for individuals. Whereas, small business owners and companies might want to consider hiring an advertising or creative agency. For, these agencies can often help brand, develop and market an idea from conception to reality.

In most cases, advertising is advertising, whether using creative or direct approach. Most often, the creative aspect of these businesses is hired to brand, develop and market a number of products and services. While this is the case, agencies must often develop a campaign which must be approved by the business before any work in these areas can begin.

To help those looking for a good advertising firm, there is now a blog known as Clutch which has a listing of over 3,800 firms. Those at the top of the list are often considered the best of the best. As such, it is often best to select a firm as close to the top of the list as possible. While this is the case, these are also some of the most busiest. As such, it often pays to be flexible when seeking out a firm to design, brand and market a product or service.

Most often, advertising firms provide the same or similar service to clients. In some cases, there may be a specific area in which an agency works. While this is the case, most generalize in different areas so as to stay as busy as possible.

Basically, the process begins with an idea, once that idea has turned into a reality, the individual or business contacts a creative or advertising agency. Once hired, representatives often work together on team to come up with a way to advertise that will reach people in an enticing way. After which, there is often a test run of the advertising campaign among a select group to see if the reaction is positive or negative.

When necessary, there are market research firms whom can provide this service. Whereas, at other times agencies will test market the product or service through promotions at stores and other locations. After which, depending on the response, the campaign will either move forward, or be canceled due to a lack of interest.

After the market research study, the agency and client go over the results to see if the product or service is viable. If so, then there is often an initial release to see if there are enough sales to warrant a general release. When this is the case, the product is often released, then the responsibility for the success of the product or service reverts back to the owner and outside the hands of the agency or advertising team.

A contract is essential whether working with an agency as a business or individual. For, when moving from the initial phase into a reality, there is no telling whether or not a product or service will be successful. As such, it is important to set up a legal and binding contract that protects all parties involved throughout the term of the campaign. Otherwise, the two parties could enter into a costly legal battle which could result in financial penalties or issues related to ownership of the product or service.
