Social media is everywhere, it seems, and there's a good chance that you use at least one platform on a daily basis. Whether your focus is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even Reddit, there is a wealth of information that Long Island advertising agencies. They can also discuss some of the myths that are continually spread, no matter how often they're disproven. These are just a few of the myths that you may want to study up on.

"A bigger fan base leads to bigger results." As reputable agencies along the lines of fishbat will tell you, this isn't always the case. A Facebook page could have as many as one million followers, but if they aren't properly engaged, this particular statistic will mean very little. In fact, you can get much more out of having a handful of followers that are genuinely interested in what you have to provide. Keeping your fan base engaged is paramount.

"If I use social media, I don't need a website." This is another myth that business owners can fall for. However, social media and unique websites fulfill different purposes. On one hand, social media is used to drive content and share content. On the other hand, a website offers more detailed information and, depending on how it's built, can create sales. Instead of favoring one over the other, focus on both to achieve maximum profit.

"If there's a social media website, I must be on it." Don't make the mistake of assuming you must be active on every social media website. Not only are you unlikely to have the time to devote to every single channel, but there are some that may perform better depending on your business. For photography agencies, Instagram and Pinterest may work best given that they are visual platforms. On the flipside, real estate and management firms may want to use LinkedIn so that they can connect to agents and investors alike. The idea of the "best" social platforms vary on a case-by-case basis.

"Social media the only marketing tool my business needs." Social media is seemingly everywhere, but to say that it's only tool that a business requires would be an oversight. Success on the digital front is acquired through various means, including, but not limited to, SEO, web, and graphic design. What this means is that you will require a multifaceted approach. Sticking to social media alone won't help drive the results you're looking for.
